IoC And HiveMind

October 18, 2005
Thanks to Harish Krishnaswamy for his excellent overview of the Apache HiveMind project. His presentation covered the basics of Inversion of Control (IoC), uses, and the HiveMind implementation.Several code samples were discussed in detail. While Harish's presentation focused mostly on HiveMind comparisons were made to other containers as well. Slides are available (below) which provide a basic recipe for using HiveMind. If you wanted to learn more about HiveMind or using IoC, this was definitely a presentation not to miss!
Software maintenance has long been a major demon the industry has been fighting against. Much of the recent advancements in the enterprise software space have been in improving software maintenance. Inversion of Control, also known as Dependency Injection, is one of these advancements. And HiveMind is one of these IoC containers.
In this session we’ll see briefly what IoC is all about and see how it can ease software maintenance. Then we’ll delve into HiveMind to explore its take on IoC.
